Bedford College Level 3 Holistic/Complementary Therapies students spend three days of the year working in the Occupational Health department at Bedford Hospital completing treatments on the NHS staff, as part of the hospital's drive to assist stress management for its staff.
So far this year, students have also completed a day at Salamander House for the Social Services and Youth Services teams. As part of the local council's yearly 'Festival of Older People' the students provide treatments at events such as at 'Tea and Tunes' in Bedford Park and Age Concern open days.
For the popular Bedford College wide initiative 'Health Week' therapies are carried out in the restaurant area for staff and students. These activities ensure the students come into contact with a wide range of clients, enhancing their communication as well as their therapy skills, whilst providing a much-needed service for the wider community.
